how the foot works


1. Breaking Phase

The heel contacts the ground, forward momentum is reduced, shock is absorbed and foot begins to pronate.

2. Suspension Phase

Spring ligament captures weight, acting like trampoline.

3. Locking Phase

Lateral portion of foot becomes rigid forming a forefoot lever.

4. Gearing Phase

Big toe along with 2nd and 1st metatarsal propel body weight forward.
