Shoe Fitting Guidelines
BREAKING-IN GUIDELINES
It is important to break-in your new footwear and insoles to ensure optimum comfort and performance. How long it takes depends on you, your sport and how often you wear your footwear and if you are using custom insoles your feet will take time to get used to the increased support and contact.
We recommend that you reduce your workload / distance by 25% for two weeks and then progressively increase to your usual level but use common sense and don’t over do it when using new footwear or insoles.
If you experience significant discomfort, reddening, blisters or have any niggles or concerns, call us to book a refit which should usually enables us to fix fitting problems and if needed we can refer you to our in house podiatrist for specialist advice or treatment.
We sell specialist footwear intended for specific sports. If you use your footwear for a purpose other than intended, the sole and shoe construction will wear differently and affect the primary function, protection and comfort.

FOOT CARE GUIDLINES
- Wash your feet daily rinsing off all soap and drying thoroughly, especially between the toes.
- Keep your toe nails trimmed straight across and not too short. Do not dig into the corners.
- Do not trim, shave or use over-the-counter medicines to dissolve corns or calluses – visit a qualified Podiatrist or Chiropodist.
- Only wear clean 'sport specific' technical socks that fit.
SHOE CARE GUIDLINES
- Lace your shoes properly. (See guide above).
- Replace running shoes between 350 - 500 miles, depending on your weight, running style and running surface.
- Replace footwear if the sole is worn as otherwise grip will be compromised and there is a risk of slipping and the shoe not performing as designed.
- Do not clean your shoes or insoles in a washing machine; do not dry your shoes or insoles in a drying machine.
- Running shoes should be cleaned using a soft brush, warm water and soap, rinsed thoroughly and dried slowly. (Do not immerse your shoes in water).
- Insoles can be removed and washed with soap and luke warm water, wipe and leave to dry at room temp.
- You can spoil the function of your footwear if misused i.e. only run in your running shoes do not use them for casual wear, tennis, etc. Likewise do not run in Tennis shoes…
