Biomechanics

The body responds to forces from both inside and outside the foot.
The study of biomechanics is about understanding the interplay of forces experienced
by the body and feet.
The observe this interplay of forces on the human body as a result of both movment and the interaction of body, foot,
footwear and ground we need to use certain 'tools'.
profeet's footwear technicans have access to the lastest gizmos, from
advanced video motion analysis software to foot pressure mapping technology. Our aim is to 'see' how the foot, the
footwear and its adjacent links or kinetic chain from ankle to knee to hip influence each other. Underpinning all
of this is the fundamental profeet biomechanical prinicipal called the Windlass Mechanism.
When the Windlass Mechanism is functioning properly the body's flow of weight along the length of the foot is working efficiently
and the joints are well aligned and balanced. We utilise this mechanism when moulding you high definition,
high rebound custom insoles on sand filled mats that take a print of you foot
in its optimum weight bearing position that looks like you have just walked on wet sand.
It has been proven that a dysfunctioning Windlass Mechanism can
contribute signifcantly to pain, discormfort and injury. Our job at profeet is the get your Windlass Mechanism
functioning at an optimum level through correct footwear (support and cushioning),
custom moulded insoles (active windlass mechanism/optimum foot and joint alignment) and proper strengthening and stretching exercises. Simple!
