Frequently Asked Questions

My old boots still fit perfectly, should I change them?
If they are not broken, don't change them right? Well maybe. Technology in ski shape and length has radically altered the sport in recent years affecting the technique we use to drive our skis. As skiing technique has embraced new shapes and technologies in our equipment, we have moved away from traditional ski styles relying on large fore and aft pressuring along the ski length and outer-leg ski independence to develop a more centred position over the ski with smoother flexion in our boots plus with more mutual weight distribution between both our feet.

This in affect has seen boots become more upright plus introduction of slightly softer and more progressive flex ranges allowing smoother pressuring and greater sensitivity to be felt from the ski. Bi-injected moulding technology in shell plastics has provided us with conventional wrap boots with greater ease of entry and comfort plus progressive flex patterns. Additionally lateral support on shells and liners has been bolstered for greater edge control.

What is the difference between a fitting at profeet and a specialist ski store?
At profeet you will have a specialist one-on-one appointment with London’s leading professional boot-fitters. With a combined experience base of over eighty winter seasons we bring collective knowledge from coaching, competitive skiing and professional bio-mechanical backgrounds. You will receive unique computer aided fitting service plus profeet custom moulded footbeds to create an optimum fit. We do not sell any boots with out a full fit service; as no boot is complete without fully moulded footbeds and alignment adjustment. Whilst others may offer moulded footbeds or insoles, our moulding and DD blocking methods provide the highest level of adaptability and support available.

I bought boots last year from a ski store and they don't feel right, what can I do?
Our 3D fit service is aimed exactly for an individual with your needs, a specialist one hour fitting where we will correct your position in the boot with footbeds after a full analysis plus correct alignment and solve fit problems for your shell and liner. We will be able to offer several alternative solutions for a boot that is deemed a less than perfect model choice for you.

I am a novice skier, will I benefit from a personalised service?
All level of skiers benefit from being in a bio-mechanically aligned position in their boot. Professional fitting will result directly in achieving breakthroughs more readily on the snow as a result of improved circulation, heightened sensation and feedback from the ski plus improved control from an optimum fit.

My friend told me that 'XX' Brand Boots are the best…?
Well we all know that our friends have the best intentions with their advice, and that’s fine if they are going to ski in your boots all day… but your foot is unique to you and that is how we will fit and serve you. No, you do not get colour choices either, regardless of the colour of your ski-suit!

Will I have to come back after my appointment, or will it all be completed on the spot?
Whilst every endeavour is made during your appointment to achieve the best fit solution possible, it is not unusual to return for minor adjustments and performance tweaks after your first ski time. Remembering that ski-boots do have a break in time, and as such will be at their very tightest whilst they are new, they are only going to become roomier. Therefore we do not wish to 'over fit' your boots causing them to be too big as they break in - as this is the most common of all fit problems.
